FORREST GUMP AND CASINO ROYALE
I picked Casino Royale and Forrest Gump to analyse because the two films have such a big impact on pop culture however, have completely different title sequences.
CASINO ROYALE
According to Kyle Cooper's keys to title sequences, this film fails to seamlessly blend into the film as the style doesn't blend in with the rest of the film's sleek, realistic one as opposed to the cartoon opening of the introduction. However, it does let the audience know what is about to happen with the 'cards' theme and the constant use of guns reminds the audience that the film is about spies. While the film does fail to set the locations and time of the film, the opening catches the audience as they are left in anticipation for the film to start.
FORREST GUMP
Forrest Gump starts with a feather landing on his foot and then proceeds to put it in his suitcase. I think this is a really effective because while the feather is floating, it sets the scene of the town and highlights the character's strangeness when he puts the feather in the suitcase. It leaves the audience wanting to know more about the character this, immersing them into his world.
