TITLE SEQUENCE: Jhean Capitan

TYPE OF SEQUENCE

large.gifFor our title sequence, we decided that it would be best to create a discrete/narrative title sequence. We thought this would be appropriate for the film we are creating as most Teen Dramas have this feature- it made sense to do this as we wanted to create a ‘mainstream’ film just as other Teen Drama films. As well as this, we also thought that by incorporating a narrative into the title sequence, it would give a good insight to the main character’s life and her everyday struggles. The first minute of the sequence would include clips of the locations and of people in those locations to set the tone of the film thus giving us our discrete/narrative opening that we think would work perfectly with the film we are attempting to create.

INFLUENCES

CLUELESS:

Includes both a discrete/narrative title sequence which is what inspired us for our title sequence

MEAN GIRLS:

Both the ambient sound and the narration inspired us for our title sequence. We weren’t sure to put ambient sounds but this film does it really well so we decided to do this one.

CONVENTIONS

In teen dramas, its usually just a heterosexual couple with a character development that only changes their physical aspects. Those are the usual conventions for teen dramas however with our film, it features an LGBTQ+ couple as well as the character’s struggles with her identity and bullying. In this was, it doesn't follow the conventions of a usual teen drama film.
