Risk Assessment: Kim Phuong Hoang

The feedback that we received from Marisa; expand more on our risk assessments.

We may forget to insert the right SD card which may pro-long filming as we would have to re-shot and it would set back our editing time, so we should keep the SD cards in the container and have on person in our group check before filming.
Also, we should make sure that the camera is fully charged before filming otherwise we would have to re-schedule filming which is very time consuming.

RISK ASSESMENT: Jhean Capitan

Following the feedback from Marisa, we needed to expand more on the risk assessment. Further risks could be:

Because we are out of supervision, we will neeed to make sure that we get home safe as individuals. To do this, we will have our phones to communicate to each other if we are getting home safely.

We have shots that are close to the road and vehicles so the equipment may become at risk when in such close distance to the vehicles. In order to prevent these risks, we will have to keep the camera close to us and at a good distance from oncoming traffic.

RISK ASSESSMENT: FARHIYA AHMED NUR

Due to the feedback from Marisa on our pitch we need to expand on our risk assessment. Its because we don't have supervision and we need to talk about how we get home safely. to make sure this happens we need to have our phones with us so we know if everyone got home safely.

Because we are on the road there is a possibility that the equipment could get damaged, to prevent this we will need to keep the cameras with us a all times.

FINAL TARGET AUDIENCE: Bethany, Farhiya, Jhean, Kim

The image above shows a picture of 'Emily Johnson'; she is our most basic viewer and she represents our entire target audience.

We thought it would be best to create a 'mainstream' film as 'Emily Johnson's mainly watch mainstream films and so, to cater to their interests, we decided to create a mainstream film. Typical mainstream movies are released in cinemas for a short period of time and are commercialised to attract customers and are then released for home use and sold in usually popular stores.

TARGETS

In order to achieve the best outcome, I have to apply this feedback to my ideas. This means that I have decide on a colour palette as well as upload our complete draft of a storyboard.

TITLE SEQUENCE: Jhean Capitan

TYPE OF SEQUENCE

large.gifFor our title sequence, we decided that it would be best to create a discrete/narrative title sequence. We thought this would be appropriate for the film we are creating as most Teen Dramas have this feature- it made sense to do this as we wanted to create a ‘mainstream’ film just as other Teen Drama films. As well as this, we also thought that by incorporating a narrative into the title sequence, it would give a good insight to the main character’s life and her everyday struggles. The first minute of the sequence would include clips of the locations and of people in those locations to set the tone of the film thus giving us our discrete/narrative opening that we think would work perfectly with the film we are attempting to create.

INFLUENCES

CLUELESS:

Includes both a discrete/narrative title sequence which is what inspired us for our title sequence

MEAN GIRLS:

Both the ambient sound and the narration inspired us for our title sequence. We weren’t sure to put ambient sounds but this film does it really well so we decided to do this one.

CONVENTIONS

In teen dramas, its usually just a heterosexual couple with a character development that only changes their physical aspects. Those are the usual conventions for teen dramas however with our film, it features an LGBTQ+ couple as well as the character’s struggles with her identity and bullying. In this was, it doesn't follow the conventions of a usual teen drama film.

TITLE CREDITS: Jhean Capitan

FONT

For the title credits, we wanted to use a font like the picture below. We think it represents the ‘teen’ aspect well and leaves a ‘playful’ tone to the film. It's bold so we thought the font would represent all the characters well.

We thought it would be best to have different colours for each title credit so that it stands out and further emphasises the tone of the film. This works perfectly with our title: True Colours

INTEGRATION

Like other teen drama films, we thought it best to integrate these title credits so that there are clips playing behind the credits. This is so that both clips and title credits help each other to set the tone of the film.

ROUGH TEMPLATE

We wanted the transitions to be bold when they are first introduced and then fade to black after. This is so that the credits are bold however, we only apply this type of transition for the cast, director and the film title. The production credits will only fade in and out. Only cast, director and film title will be featured in the middle so that it stands out to the others.

After Effects Ident - Kim Phuong Hoang

\I chose a template from the list of ident designs and picked the 'formation' ident and placed the ident animation I made on the Online Logo Maker into the Adobe After Effect Programme.

After Effects Ident: Bethany Volante

I chose this design because it was simple, but it didn't look cheaply made. Both 20th Century Fox and Warner Brothers, the distribution companies we're modelling our own company on, have simple but memorable idents. There isn't too much going on -- it's not too dramatic or explosive, but it's still interesting to watch (because of the effects, in the case of the 20th Century Fox).

AFTER EFFECTS IDENT: Jhean Capitan

I made the ident by firstly creating a logo and then importing the image into an already made ident animation.

I created the logo according to our teen drama idea. Teen dramas often include bright colours and appeal mostly to female adolescents and so, I used colours that would appeal to that audience. The name of the distribution company is the group's first letter of their name.

AFTER EFFECTS IDENT

This was the ident that i had made and I did it by creating a logo and putting into an animation that was already made. There were a lot of animations to choose from but i decided to go with this one because i felt it went well with my logo.

This was the logo i made and i created with a teen drama genre theme because that was he genre my group went with. the name of our distribution company was 'FKSJ' and we decided to call it this because it the first letter of everyone's name in our group.

BLOGGING HEALTH CHECK FEEDBACK: Jhean Capitan

Blogging Health Check 1

For this first blogging health check, I got an 18/20. My consistent posting and detailed work helped me achieve this mark and in order to get the highest mark possible for the final product, I should continue with this type of work.
To improve, I have to further my knowledge on technology- this means that I have to constantly widen my use of technology and find different ways to present my ideas and embed the videos rather than posting the links. With this feedback, I have looked through my blog posts and changed according to the feedback.

Blogging Health Check 1 Feedback: Bethany Volante

I agree with Marisa's feedback. My consistent blogging, ability to meet deadlines, ICT creativity and detailed work helped me to gain this mark and I should keep doing all these things. However, I do need to expand my knowledge of technology further and back up my points and information with more multimedia examples.

SOUND IN 'CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE DRAMA QUEEN': Jhean Capitan

Teen Drama - Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen

The sound in the opening sequencee of 'Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen' involves upbeat music and use of non-diegetic and ambient sounds.

The sequence starts with an upbeat song 'I'm Ready' by Cherie. The song presents the film as more comical and light-hearted thus setting the tone of the film. The beat of the song coincides with the 'pulsing' action the the words 'Disney' and 'Teenage'.

Whilst the music is playing, non-diegetic 'zooming' sounds are added; this acts as a sound bridge as the sound carries over a visual transition and you could say that this sound is also synchronous as the sound matched the action as the words -zoom- away from the screen.
As the audience flies over New York, we hear slight sounds of wind and birds that adds to the ambient sounds of the film.
The sounds all set the tone of the film as the 'zooming' sounds create a playful tone and the soundtrack creates an upbeat atmosphere.

Genre Shortlist: Kim Phuong Hoang

Use of Sound in X-Men: The Last Stand : Kim Phuong Hoang

In film opening of X-Men: The Last Stand, the music is synchronus and complements the action on screen to give a sense of the story behind the mutations of what led to these surperheros or mutants.

MUSIC:
The orchestrial music used is one of many scores produced speciafically produced for this film; called Dark Phoenix Tragedy.
The beginning of this film opening shows a boy crying and then the camera zooms straight into his back of the sharp bones and the feathers, with the soundtrack playing straight and loud into this scene.

I think that was also sound effects during the scene where the molecules were moving which gives makes it seem realistic, along with the smooth sounds when it transitions to the next scene.

The elements of the diffeerent strings in this piece emphasises the film opening, which is conventional and generic of a surperhero film because it sounds heroic and triumphant.
